Buyer Guide
What information should buyers prepare before requesting a custom packaging quote?
By BLF Packaging · Published · Updated
To request a custom paper packaging quote, provide the product to pack, dimensions, quantity per version, preferred box structure, insert needs, printing and finish requirements, artwork status and deadline. Mark unknown details as open decisions. A reference image can communicate appearance, but it cannot replace a size or material specification.
Copy this checklist into your project brief
| Field | Details to provide |
|---|---|
| Product and use | What is inside; number of items; weight; retail, gifting, e-commerce or wholesale use |
| Quantity | Units per size and artwork version; any planned reorder range |
| Dimensions | L × W × H with mm or inches; label these as product, internal-box or external-box dimensions |
| Structure and insert | Preferred opening style; component arrangement; support or separation needed |
| Material and appearance | Paper reference if known; printed colors; logo; finish areas and reference quality |
| Artwork | Whether the design, logo and dieline are ready; identify unresolved versions |
| Delivery context | Destination, required arrival date and any specific packing or documentation needs |
If a specification is not decided yet
Send product dimensions, photos and the intended use first. Describe the opening or presentation you want and identify what can change. Ask for a structure review before treating a preliminary price direction as a final quote.
Where you compare quotations, use the same specification and confirm what each price includes: box, insert, accessories, sample or tooling charges, packing and shipping arrangements. Keep assumptions visible so different offers can be compared fairly.
Start with the information you can confirm
The inquiry form collects key specifications and your project context. Summarize available product photos or artwork in the message and agree how to share the files during follow-up. Keep confidential information subject to the handling terms agreed for your project.
